Open Or Closed Rhinoplasty Technique?
In some cases, it is enough to use a closed rhinoplasty technique. But if you have thick skin, bigger and broad nose and you want to significantly change its appearance or you wish reduce your nostrils, an open rhinoplasty technique could be better for you.
The only difference between the two approaches is a tiny incision on the columella, between the nostrils. This incision heals nearly invisibly if created and sutured carefully.
It is much more better to use the open approach if there is significant work to be done on the tip of the nose. The open approach allows the doctor to visualize these tip (lower lateral) cartilages directly and in a undistorted way while working on them. If the patient solely desires the removal of a hump or other work on the upper portion of the nose, then a closed approach is preferable.
Our rhinoplasty surgeon Dusan Zaruba M.D. prefers a closed rhinoplasty technique. Only in some rare complicated cases he use an open rhinoplasty technique. He is experienced enough to be able to use a close approach to reshape the most of noses and make them more subtile.

How Much Does Rhinoplasty cost?
In the Czech Republic, nasal surgery prices vary. The cost of rhinoplasty depends on the complexity or difficulty of nose job you need. The level of an experience and expertise of a surgeon is also decisive.
A primary or first time rhinoplasty is less expensive than revision or secondary rhinoplasty. It is because a revision rhinoplasty is more difficult for the plastic surgeon to perform and it also takes more time.
The nose is the central feature of a face and you have to choose your rhinoplasty surgeon carefully. A nasal surgery done by more experienced rhinoplasty surgeon with a great reputation, thriving, busy and high profile practice costs more than others.
The more areas of the nose need to be operated during the procedure (the tip, upper lateral cartilages, nasal bones, septum or turbinates, the higher the cost for this procedure will be.
And again, be careful when choosing a surgeon. If a price sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Strive for the best, because second best may be a setup for a revision surgery at much higher costs.
What to Expect After a Rhinoplasty?
A rhinoplasty recovery time is variable depending on what rhinoplasty techniques are used such as whether the surgery was performed open or closed, whether any tip work was performed, and whether the nasal bones were broken.
Patients after open rhinoplasty usually have more swelling that last longer compared to patients after closed rhinoplasty techniques. If the nose was surgically broken (osteotomy) then there is usually more bruising and swelling.
Patients are to take a week off from work or school. After two weeks, most patients can slowly return to demanding activities such as exercising.

The word "best" is very subjective. What's most important is that you find an rhinoplasty surgeon that is best for your type of nose. Choosing the right surgeon is the most important decision you have to make when considering rhinoplasty.

Flying After Rhinoplasty
We allow our patients to fly within 4-10 days after the rhinoplasty. They should use a nasal spray and take a medications we prescribe them to avoid problems on the flight home.
